A baby has been born, and everybody wants to say congratulations. The card does not have to be long. Parents with a newborn read it in between feeds, so a warm sentence is perfect.

Sweet and short

  • “Welcome to the world, little one!”
  • “Congratulations on your beautiful daughter. Enjoy every moment.”
  • “What a wonderful start to a new family.”
  • “Wishing you lots of love, cuddles and a little sleep.”
  • “A new star is born. Congratulations!”

Funny

  • “Welcome to the best and most tiring job in the world.”
  • “May the nappies be small and the cuddles big.”
  • “From now on coffee is a food group.”

Personal

Mention the baby’s name if the parents have shared it, and say something about the parents too: “You will be wonderful parents.” That is what they want to hear on a night with little sleep.

  • “Little Noah is lucky with you as his parents.”
  • “I cannot wait to meet him. Let us know when you are ready for visitors.”

One card from family, friends or colleagues

A baby card from the whole group means the parents get thirty messages and photos in one go: a lovely thing to keep for later. Let everybody add their own words and, if they like, a photo.
