When a colleague is ill, a card from the whole team shows they are not forgotten.

What works

  • "We are thinking of you."
  • "No need to reply. Rest."
  • "The team is fine, take all the time you need."
  • A light memory or a bit of gentle humour

What to avoid

  • Questions about the illness or when they will be back
  • "At least it is…" comparisons
  • Work updates that create pressure

Cosy slippers and magazines beside a bed

Timing

Send it early in the illness, when support matters most, and schedule it so it arrives on a quiet morning.
