In the Netherlands, 5 December is a day of surprises, poems and a bit of mischief. A Sinterklaas card is an easy way to bring that spirit to a team or a family, even from far away.

A simple poem

A Sinterklaas poem does not need to be perfect. It needs to rhyme, be a bit teasing and include something personal. A template:

Dear Sam, you always bring cake, / and you never ever make a mistake. / But we noticed that you drink all the tea, / so here is a gift from Sint and me.

A basket of pepernoten and tangerines

Short messages

  • “Happy Sinterklaas! May the Sint be kind to you.”
  • “You were good this year, mostly. Enjoy the gifts.”
  • “Wishing you a night of surprises.”

Tips for a team

Keep teasing friendly, and never about private things. For a team, a shared card with funny lines and a photo of the whole team in Sinterklaas hats is perfect.
