Grandparents keep every card. They put them on the mantelpiece and read them again on quiet afternoons. That makes a card for them one of the most valuable things you can write.

From a child

Children’s words are the best. Keep it simple and let them say it in their own way.

  • “Dear Oma, I love our pancake days. Thank you!”
  • “Opa, you are the best at telling stories.”
  • “I love you to the moon and back.”

A knitted blanket with reading glasses and tea

From adults

  • “Thank you for always being there. Your door is always open.”
  • “Your advice has guided me more than you know.”
  • “We are lucky to have you in our lives.”

A garden bench with sunflowers and a watering can

Funny and affectionate

  • “Your cookies are the reason I come visit.”
  • “You are the only people who can tell my parents what to do.”

A card from the whole family

Grandchildren, children and cousins can each add a message and a photo through one link. The grandparents receive a full card by e-mail, and it can be printed for the mantelpiece.
